December Already

Anime & Manga, General December 2nd, 2006 @ 1254h

Lo! and behold! It’s December already. Time passes kind of fast eh? I guess it’s time to start doing some work. =(

Been watching some animé and dramas these few days. Namely Noein, a very sci-fi anime and GTO live action.

Now that December has come, it’s time to do some shopping. Some stuff I’ve caught my eye…

The next few days before the chalet, I’m going to spend time playing this. A pity my graphic card is not powerful enough.

Death Note Presonality

Anime & Manga October 27th, 2006 @ 2258h

ISTJ
You scored 90% introversion, 14% intuition, 64% thinking, and 64% judging!

ABOUT THE TEST

This personality test is heavily based on the Kiersey Sorter. In essence, it measures your personality across four variables: Introversion-Extraversion, Intuition-Sensing, Thinking-Feeling and Judging-Percieving. There are both positive and negative attributes to each of the traits.

Introversion-Extraversion: Generally, people who score high on “introversion” are reserved, quiet people who keep to themselves whereas people who score low on “introversion” are outgoing, friendly people who are extraverts.
Intuition-Sensing:
People who score high on “intuition” are guided by gut instinct, they go on intuition as opposed to people who score low on this trait, who prefer to rely on established fact and their senses, rather than their own belief.
Thinking-Feeling: People with high scores on “thinking” rely more on their head to make decisions, whereas people who score low on “thinking” rely more on their heart to guide them. (Note: this has no bearing on a person’s intelligence level; it merely refers to the way in which they make desicions.)
Judging-Percieving: People who score high “judging” are firm, decisisive people, whereas people who score low on this trait are flexible, accomodating people.

The category write-ups displayed here are not entirely my own; some of this info has been taken from personalitypage.com and some from changingminds.org, both of which are excellent sources of information about personality types. The test questions came in part from Please Understand Me II, another excellent source of information about personality types. Tsugumi Ohba’s Interview

Anime & Manga October 26th, 2006 @ 0759h

An interview of Tsugumi Ohba was posted on ZaoBao on Wednesday. There were some interesting tidbits in it that you might find interesting. The interviewer only got three of her seven questions answered.

Firstly, when asked about how Ohba works with Obata, she basically repeats what we already know - she does the story and then hands it over to Obata and he draws without her interference.

Secondly, when asked about what she felt of the movie, she was “extremely satisfied” of it. She says she felt that the actors of the two main characters gave brought the characters to life. In addition, she was extremely shocked about how “smooth and coordinated the CGI Ryuk interacted with the other actors as though Ryuk was physically there”. Lastly, you might find this a little disappointing, she says the next movie is going to “deviate from the manga core storyline” of which “she has never seen before and is very excited about”.

When asked about how she comes up with the story line in the cat and mouse game between L and Kira, she mentioned about putting herself in the shoes of L and Kira to get a feel of how each of them will think. “I am not one of those authors who have inspirations that drop down from the sky - every volume is the work of hard brainstorming”, she adds. Her particular favourite part of the story is, apparently, the part when L reveals his real identity to Light.

Random Stuff

First up, look at what we have for the featured article of the day.

Firefox 2.0 is released (and boy the new site design looks great). For those of you die-hard IE users, you might find IE 7 to be of interest to you. Though IE 7 is, I admit, much better than IE 6, I’m not going to make the switch - it still sucks in the standards department.

And look at what the SPAM king landed himself in.

P.S.: Someone is translating the Death Note novel! =) I hope some US company decides to translate the novel - I will definitely buy it. (It’s kind of touching to read what Mello has to say of L…)

Death Note - How to Read

Anime & Manga October 21st, 2006 @ 2113h

I went to Kinokuniya and bought the book, at last for SGD $16.50. Couldn’t afford the SGD $70 limited edition *sobs* Read the rest of this entry »

Death Note - Movie

Anime & Manga, Movies October 21st, 2006 @ 2038h

Watched the movie already. Frankly, it was a little disappointing - for manga readers/anime watchers at least. For those who have never encountered Death Note before, I think Death Note will be a rare treat for them. Spoilers for both the manga and movie beyond this. Read the rest of this entry »

Open House 2006 - The Aftermath

Anime & Manga, Interesting Stuff, School October 14th, 2006 @ 2218h

“Thank you for your hard work :) It’s finally over!” That was what I placed on the plasma screen after everything was over. I wonder how many of you saw that.

Loads of technical hiccups along the way. There was the ubiquitous problem of not being able to receive the camera stream; there was a problem of approximately 10 seconds lag between the camera and the screen; there was the problem of the plasma screen computer suddenly going haywire. I ran around, attending to this, making sure that works and checking out why that doesn’t work. In the end, we were able to screen the closing ceremony mostly without problem save for some lag.

We definitely need to write some better documentation for the next batch. In the end, I didn’t get to see much of the open house and never spotted anyone worth mentioning.

Anyway, tonight was the 50th Anniversary for Dunman High. Happy Birthday =) Too bad I couldn’t bear to part with $70 to get there. There was some news coverage on it but most of it is about PM Lee’s speech anyway.

*Drools at this*! My goodness. I can’t take it anymore. I’m going to try my luck with the special edition at Kinokuniya (provided they import them).

*EDIT* Never mind. It’s too expensive. Apparently, there’s some extra charges incurred with the importing. $70.60 for crying out loud!

L’s Name

… Looking at this gorgeous set… I don’t know what to say. Dang, I am so getting the normal edition one (that is minus the nice box with figurines inside and the other box with the volumes) but still with L’s true name card… I hope?

Anyway, for those of you who want to be spoiled, L’s real name is… here. And some more spoilers.

Have I said I am a Death Note fanatic?
