Raw Raw Fight the Power!

Anime & Manga, Music November 8th, 2007 @ 1745h

Shucks, I am hooked and addicted to this rap. It’s kind of catchy and I can’t stop listening to it while pouring over my economics notes.

And so I present four variants to the rap and the lyrics. keke. (This post is mainly for my own reference to the lyrics.)

-Hook
do the impossible
see the invisible
raw! raw!
fight the power!

touch the untouchable
break the unbreakable
raw! raw!
fight the power!

what you gonna do is what you wanna do
just break the rule, then you see the truth
this is the theme of “G” coming through baby!
raw! raw!
fight the power!

-Verse1
power to the peeps, power for the dream
still missing piece scattering, so incomplete
we be the most incredible soldier from underground
see how easy, they all fall down
digging to the core to see the light
Let’s get out of here babe, that’s the way to survive
top of the head, I’m on the set
do the impossible, don’t you wanna bet?
cuz, a lot of things changed, we be waiting in vain

if you wanna get by, no pain no gain
wow! fakers wanna test me again
(damn! suckers wanna test me again)
sorry, my rhyme’s gonna snatch your brain
we gonna make it happen with the crazy rap
(I’m still starving for the straight up shit)
we gonna make it happen with the crazy rap skill (shit)
get ready to rumble, now is the time
if you don’t know, now you know

(good luck fellows! ha ha)

-Hook

-Verse2
2nd verse dedicates to the real peeps
what we got to say is so real thing
(what we got to say is damn real thing)
cuz, revolution ain’t never gonna televise
kicking the mad flow, microphone phenotype
(kicking the dope shit, microphone phenotype)
open your third eye, seeing through the overground
I’m mabout to hit you with the scream from the underground
whole city is covered with the cyber flavor
“G” is in your area, one of the toughest enigma

-Hook

“Libera Me” From Hell

Anime & Manga, Daily Ramblings, Music October 26th, 2007 @ 1709h

How does a rap song coupled with an opera/female soprano sound?

I’m pretty sick of studying now and the title is a definite reflection of how I feel. (I think it means “liberate me from hell”. Probably latin.)

Orders have Arrived!

Anime & Manga, Music October 17th, 2007 @ 1121h

They are finally here! This is probably the second time I’ve ordered something via online and I think I seriously need to get a debit card or something. I can’t always ask others for favours. I’m lazy to get one because that entails conversion of my bank account to become signature based, something which I am not comfortable with, yet.

Anyway, I pre-ordered this at the end of September and it finally arrived on Monday. The item is in pretty good condition though it took a little long for them to “source from their suppliers”. The shipping took one week which I guess was alright, since I didn’t need to pay any shipping fee.

Gurren Lagann - Alternate Ending

Anime & Manga October 12th, 2007 @ 1854h

Gosh, if this came true, it would be the sweetest :D from 天元突破 グレンラガン.

For those who know what I am talking about, enjoy the art. For those who don’t, just appreciate the nicely drawn art by someone else. (I definitely did not draw this - I can’t draw to save my life!)

Acoustic Music

Anime & Manga, Movies, Music October 10th, 2007 @ 1745h

For some of us, at least for me, we can’t listen to songs with lyrics when trying to memorise facts of which Economics is the worst culprit of them all. The lyrics just distract me from memorising. So, I turn to acoustic music, that is music without lyrics, that usually come in the form of soundtracks.

My interests in soundtracks can be traced back to the Lord of the Rings soundtrack which I have already written to death here. For those who want to know though, the third Return of the King Complete Recordings is going to be released in the midst of our A-Levels on November 6. For some kind souls who have spare cash, please consider a Christmas gift for me with all three complete recordings :D

So far, there has only been five “entertainment” (mixture of movies, TV Show and anime) that has wow’d me with their soundtracks:
- Lord of the Rings (duh!)
- Lost
- Eureka seveN
- Death Note
- Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Of course, there is also the once in a while song or two that sounds good but these are my top five in no order. As again, here are some of my selected songs for your listening pleasure. A mix of upbeat, majestic and soft music.

Well, in case you were wondering about the seemingly music themed entries nowadays, let’s just say that I’m in this mood right now to write these kind of posts.

Brave Heart

Anime & Manga, Music July 14th, 2007 @ 1552h

One of the earliest animes I remember watching when I was in primary school (around age 11) was Digimon Adventure. I loved this anime and I still remember bits and pieces of the storyline. I have to lament the destruction of the whole series with sub-standard (IMO) spinoffs and sequels.

Other than the story, I really liked about the show was one of the insert songs: Brave Heart by Miyazaki Ayumi. The song is pretty cool and I’ve realized, only very recently, that the lyrics are pretty great as well. Definitely helps to bring out one’s “brave heart” in times of need.

You can view a fan’s music video rendition of the song using footage from said anime below:

Run faster than the wind!
Aim farther than the skies!
You can meet a new you
Unknown courage sleeps in your heart, and when you realize
The downpour in your heart
Will surely stop…show me your brave heart

Death Note Opening/Ending 1 Credit-less

Anime & Manga, News January 8th, 2007 @ 1705h

I managed to obtain a rip of the first DVD of the Death Note anime. The quality of the episodes are superb. Pity that there aren’t any subtitles. But anyway, I managed to rip the creditless opening and ending for those who want them.

You can find the opening here and the ending here.

The video is encoded in H.264 and the audio is in AC3. If you have problems viewing them, try installing the Combined Community Codec Pack.

And a warning to those who download anime off the net in Singapore. I quote:

The government wants to clamp down on animation downloads effective… this year. Happy New Year. The figures passed down stated that my beloved motherland has 230,000 animation downloaders. We are the top in the world by population percentage, at, uh, 5%? Canada only has 20,000 more households, and yet they have a lot more maple trees than us.

Odex underlined that this sounded like a serious effort on the part of the authorities, who are sick of catching little mama-shops selling pirated batteries. Japanese animation presents a fine opportunity to round up more bodies because there are few legalities to work with (Odex holds most of the licenses for titles in my motherland). They have spoken with the authorities, and I quote, the police have ‘techniques to handle certain things’.

On the other hand, I quote again, ‘it’s not going to look good if the students are caught’. It will not be nice if the local No. 1 tabloid has a 15-page exclusive on 16-year-olds jumping off 20-storey buildings in an attempt to shake off hardened plainclothes raiders. So Odex, in a nice way, is giving us a heads up and telling us to stay down.

As for myself, I hardly download anything beside Death Note these days.

Lastly, Death Note inspired Music Video:

The hasty stroke goes oft astray.

Death Note - The Last Name

Anime & Manga, Movies January 5th, 2007 @ 2304h

I’ve just came back from watching the movie. I must say, I can proclaim that it is definitely of “Death Note” standard. Much better than the first one which I would say was only a kind of appetiser and introduction to the world created by Tsugumi Ooba. If you didn’t like the first one, you should be give this a chance - you might like it!

WARNING: Detailed spoilers for the movie and manga follows. You have been warned!

December Already

Anime & Manga, General December 2nd, 2006 @ 1254h

Lo! and behold! It’s December already. Time passes kind of fast eh? I guess it’s time to start doing some work. =(

Been watching some animé and dramas these few days. Namely Noein, a very sci-fi anime and GTO live action.

Now that December has come, it’s time to do some shopping. Some stuff I’ve caught my eye…

The next few days before the chalet, I’m going to spend time playing this. A pity my graphic card is not powerful enough.
