Seems like I haven’t been blogging as frequently as I would like nowadays. A pretty long post/rant follows!

Woke up the other day to find all my three torrents at exactly the same percentage. What luck eh?

Had to go to school today to finish up a video for the upcoming Senior Dinner and Dance (the “prom” in VJC). The video content is kind of boring though – it features several sponsors logo flying past and the principal speech. To spice things up, I came up with a pretty weird idea. You can see a screenshot of that below. I will post the video when it has run its virgin run on the night of December 6.

Speaking of that, I have to be in full black on that day (doing sai kang). That includes the hair (oh, it’s already in black), shirt, pants and shoes. Don’t think I have all of them.

While trying to cross the zebra crossing to get to school this morning, I was kind of surprised that there was a driver who stopped for me to allow me to cross. These people are hard to find nowadays. They see you waiting at the side of the road to cross, they just speed through the crossing and get the hell out of your way. As I was crossing, the driver honked his horn and when I turn my head to look at the driver, Lo! and behold, I was surprised to see the elder Mr. Teo! I waved at him and smiled before he drove off and I continued my way.Well, for those who don’t know, he was my Math teacher two years ago and now his son is again, my Math tutor. What coincidence.

Slogged through the day and finally manage to get home… but not before I have another complain/rant to make. The 7-11 at Parkway Parade is seriously VERY and I mean VERY inefficient. Even when there is barely any queue, I can wait up to 5 minutes for the very slow cashiers to do their job. Who knows how many of my buses I have missed just because they decided to take their own sweet time.

To end off, for the chalet next week, I think I’m going to bring the two Pirates of the Caribbean films. Anyone have any requests? Heh, if you want I can bring all 3 extended LoTR films ;) You know I am a fan don’t you?

Version 6.1 and Tagboard

Site November 25th, 2006 @ 2232h

I’ve finally ditched the old skin that I’ve grown so tired of and added a new skin. This skin is called Gray Gets Green.

At the same time, I’ve added the tagboard to the blog using an experimental format that is different from the ones you see at CS’s and XL’s blog. Still needs some tweaking though… Hmm…

And I finally got my hair cut.

Julius

Interesting Stuff, Music November 24th, 2006 @ 2205h

Someone with the initials HCL was apparently very bored and decided to write up some modified lyrics of Wang Lee Hom’s Julia to “motivate others to do well in physics”.

JULIUS

JULIUS JULIUS
我只能够笑哈哈
只能说 “为什么,我的妈!”

JULIUS JULIUS
我的PHYSICS真邋遢
听不懂 看不懂 算了吧!

我现在要对PHYSICS称霸
我要用功 终点要到达 让你叫声“哇!”

Disclaimer : This lyrics was written purely for entertainment purposes. No malice or insult was intended at any individual or incident. The songwriter bears no consequence for any conflicts arising from this ‘song’.

In some other news, I am seriously getting sick of that TV Mobile Advertisement being shown EVERYWHERE. Gosh, the music is terrible.

Saw Mr Lau on a bus today though he didn’t see me.

Super Muggers

Interesting Stuff November 22nd, 2006 @ 1818h

I know I’ve been MIA for a while – don’t worry, I’m still alive and kicking.

Here’s some interesting titbits: The chao muggers of NTU.

I think this is just typical of kiasu Singaporeans – they never want to lose out!

I really hope that by the time I get to university, I would not become one of those flocking into the library.

Saw PS 3 import being sold at Sim Lim today. Guess what? The price is at a whopping $1500!

悲しい

Daily Ramblings November 18th, 2006 @ 1803h

今、私はほんとに悲しいだ。 悲しい。 悲しい。 なぜあいつが私の気持ちをわからない?

This post is not supposed to be understood. If I made any mistake in the above, please tell me so that I can correct them. A rookie here.

Bored to Death

Daily Ramblings, News November 16th, 2006 @ 1449h

I am almost bored to death every single day at home. I need to find something to do. A part time job perhaps. But I would prefer to teach some tuitions. If anyone is interested, give me a ring. (Only Sec schools and below please.)

Regarding the recent announced plans to increase the GST to 7%, I had wanted to write something from the point of view of an economics student regarding the issue, but a professional has done it instead. That’s an interesting read.

Speaking of economics, I just remembered I have lots of school work to do during the holidays. Let’s see…

  • Economics Project
  • Economics Article Thing?
  • Physics Tutorial
  • Math Tutorial

I had the ambitious plan of doing some “mugging” to improve on my other stuff but that seems unlikely.

The “official” school holidays is going to start this Saturday. Prepare for the influx of primary school kids!

Random Stuff

Daily Ramblings, General November 14th, 2006 @ 1718h

Damn, I’ve gone and DONE IT! Everything shall start tomorrow. Will need your help Zenden ;)

Went to install Vista Transformation Pack and now the desktop looks as Vista-like as it can be. Looks pretty good to me. Guess I’ll be using this look until I get Vista next year.

WARNING: If you want to istall that, be sure to follow all instructions to the letter or your system will die.

DVR+R DL discs are so freaking expensive. One disc with a jewel case from Imation costs $8. Almost daylight robbery. I haven’t seen them in spindles yet. I think that would be worth getting.

… maybe I’ll post more random stuff later.

EDIT:
I’ve completed some basic tagging feature of the tagboard. You can already find Zenden’s and Sleep’s tagboard online. If you want one too, ask me for it ;)

With this, I can declare this version a “mini-milestone”. You can download it here. No instructions provided. Figure out yourself. This is still Alpha. Gosh, it might even be pre-alpha!

Well, because I am basically stuck at home, I was bored and found these quizzes through Wikipedia (yes Vanessa, I “work” for wikipedia :P )

Goodies Post

Interesting Stuff, Movies November 11th, 2006 @ 2214h

Went to watch Sinking of Japan/Japan Sinks/日本沈没 today. You can call it The Day After Tomorrow with improved effects. It’s basically an average movie for me with no “wow” factors. The subplot of the love between the main characters is hardly developed! The ending was kind of corny too. “Everyone lives happily ever after.”

The first “goodie” I bring to you is a preview of the tagboard I’m working on. You can find a link to it. Currently, you can only browse the tags – you can’t post any tags yet. Those tags are from the former tagboard at Zenden Lee’s blog. In the next preview, there should be posting access plus a new black and white colour scheme perhaps.

A while ago, another friend and I sent in a video for the Mediacorp Roving DV competition. Basically, we are supposed to come up with a “student news report” and send that in. It was aired today at 9.30 pm on Channel 5 News and 10 pm on CNA news. For those who missed it, here’s a video: (I’ll upload the version with the “additional overlay text” that Mediacorp added in at a later time)

EDIT:
I did a “grey” colour scheme and aren’t exactly satisfied with it yet:

EDIT 2:
You can find the news article that goes with our video here or here.
