Books, Interesting Stuff, School September 2nd, 2006 @ 2018h

A pretty long post awaits.

Woke up to the sound of my mobile’s alarm at 8 am. That omnipresent “beep beep beep”.

On the way to school, the bus (31) I was on almost had a head-on collision with a turning lorry at a junction. The bus was travelling very fast, probably above the speed limit for buses and probably trying to beat the red light. At the junction, as a lorry was attempting to turn (or going forward; I can’t tell, for that matter), the bus almost collided with it.

The tale doesn’t end here. The bus driver, probably recovering from the shock of that near-accident, began driving at turtle speed and MISSED the bus stop which a few VJ people and I were supposed to get off. In case you were wondering, the “BUS STOPPING” sign was glowing red. And thus began my slogging to the school with my mind somewhat still in dream land.

The turnout at the event was better than I expected (albeit worse than expected by the organizers I reckon). Our stall sold pretty well - we sold drinks; everyone needs drinks. The main items were sold out way ahead of the carnival’s closure and they had to resort to “other means” for more sales.

The rides were pretty pathetic, save one. They were basically rotting in the Saturday Afternoon Sun except for one which was practically filled with queuing people of sorts - visitors, Victorians, children etc. - from the start till the end. It costs $6. Over my dead body will I spend that much on the ride. On an additional note, the Flying Fox was also too expensive. $4? Are you sure?

All in all, I spent $1 in total. I can hear someone somewhere out there exclaiming “WHAT!?” (though I assumed that there is actually someone reading this). Call me a miser. Or whatever. I don’t believe in doing charity like this. I don’t donate to charities or any event for that matter that has the promises of “lucky draw prizes”. Use that money on the donation and I will donate.

Of notable interest might be the “dunking station”. Mr Seet and Mr Ho probably took the longest time to actually get wet.

And yeah, for those of you who think so, let me clarify: No, I am not attached.

And so it is almost 24 hours since I’ve eaten a proper meal (not that I haven’t eaten anything; I have in fact ate a few pieces of bread) and I just spoiled myself at the ending of another book series: The Dark Tower. Damn, I just can’t stop flipping to the end of books to know the ending.

Anyway for those of you on the hunt for Stephen King E-Books, here’s a Russian site with the downloads of the books in English. Enjoy =)
